Children's Tea Parties - An Ideal Children's Tea Party

By Xander Krieg

In a era where there never seems to be enough time, planning an enchanted Children's Tea Party for a child's birthday celebration is the most popular theme event being hosted by mothers and grandmothers today. Combining entertainment, and education-explaining good table manners-never begins too early. From age four and up, these young ladies and gents arrive at the Tea Room with great expectations of the party they have never seen before.

Usually dressed in their Sunday best, children can be met at the door, by a Princess or other costumed character. Some themed parties encourage children to dress in their "princess" outfits, including Cinderella gowns, children's high heel shoes, and tiaras adorning their heads. Wave a magic wand, blow up a few balloons in the shape of butterflies, and you are ready for a truly memorable Children's Tea Party at your local Tea Room. Let the Tea Room Events Coordinator walk you through your menu options for children, including fresh seasonal fruit, jam sandwiches, miniature cupcakes, and beverage options!

Because of the age of our youngsters, be sure to plan the event minute by minute. Know the schedule, and try to keep it moving. Games in a Tea Room are limited to the size of the room, but games that include Musical Dots, (similar to musical chairs, however the children stand on large round pieces of colored construction paper on the floor),and enchanted Disney music on CD playing in the background, will be just the beginning! Followed by balloon shaped butterflies, the children can do their butterfly dance as the Princess starts face painting with the children. Ask your local "Princess", who plans these events, for her suggestions. These costs can vary, depending on the amount of time the "Princess" stays with your event, as well as the number of activities.

Remember to invite as many to the Children's Tea Party that can comfortably accommodate the space. Grandma's and Grandpa's love to be in on the guest list, holding their movie cameras and taking pictures of the children having a wonderful time! Be sure your menu selection for your child's Tea Party includes "grown up" food items as well. Ask your Tea Room Coordinator if a "modified" Afternoon Tea is available for the adults, perhaps served buffet style. This keeps the focus on the children and their tables, but also allows parents of those children to partake in the refreshments. Adult menu items could be small sandwiches, scones, fruit, and a choice of beverages. A modified tea, served buffet style will certainly be less work for the Events Coordinator, and therefore should cost less.

This special event for a Children's Tea Party can be one of the most memorable for any child. If planning to select a local Tea Room, be sure to visit the Tea Room to check out the décor. Is it bright and cheerful? Is the Staff accommodating and does the Tea Room looks like a perfect place for your child's Tea Party? Can this Tea Room easily accommodate your event? Sometimes with just a few minor changes, a quiet, elegant Tea Room can easily transform into a wonderful venue for a Children's Tea Party. Tea Rooms are designed as the first introduction of quiet elegance and regal beauty to our children, who will long remember their special day! When it comes to our children, it is never too early to begin to teach them the finer elegance of life.

Tea Party Etiquette - Birthday Fun For Your Child

These tips and guidelines will help your child and all her guests enjoy their party and learn proper manners. How much you follow accepted etiquette really depends on the age of your child and her guests. For a very young group you may find that simply instructing them to say "please" and "thank you" and to ask for things to be passed rather than reaching for them is acceptable etiquette at your party. As a parent it might be helpful if you stand beside the table and gently offer guidance as you go. You could even start your party by giving all your guests a short lesson in this party etiquette
