Perfect Kids Parties - Tip #10 - Staying Calm and in Control
By Sarah Gasu
So far in this series of articles I have shared with you my simply strategies to help you throw a perfect party, from making the list to thinking food, guests, organising supplies and organising help. But on the big day it is essential to keep a grip on things to ensure your party is fun for everyone involved, including you.
Now you may have figured this out already, but if you are new to the game let me tell you, kids can smell fear, so don't show any. Stay calm and in control. Keep the party on schedule, spacing out the games and the food activities evenly so that the kids don't get restless.
From time to time throughout the party you will need to get everyone's attention so that you can ensure you maintain that level of control so essential to party success. I have found the best way to get it is by simply popping a balloon it always does the trick, and the looks on their little faces is just a joy.
You see, being a successful Party Mum is all about throwing the most memorable children's parties ever. Sure, some will be memorable because little Billy ate too much fairy bread and vomited it all over Mary-Sue's favourite party dress, who in turn vomited all over the birthday cake ( I speak from experience here......but what a cake it was, even though no-one looked at it after that).
But unless something beyond your control steps in to rob you of your glory, every party you ever throw from this day forward is going to go down in the annuls of children's party history as THE BEST EVER (ever since the last one you threw that is!)
So enjoy your children while they are young, laugh with them, get down on the floor and have fun with them, dress up and be silly, don't be afraid to make a mess, take loads of photo's and never forget that a true Party Mum doesn't need a reason to party, there is so much to celebrate and it's not all about birthdays, some times we should have a party for no reason at all, some times they should be huge, sometimes tiny ones with just us and the kids, it's really all about just living life and having fun, creating memories that will last in our children's hearts forever.
Sarah Gasu did not earn the title of The PartyMum by taking her little ones to MacDonalds come birthday time. She earned it because she is just crazy about kids parties.
