Chances are you have spent a lot of time thinking through your party, but for the guest the first thing they know about it is when they receive their invitation. Nothing says 'great party' like an original invitation that matches your theme. Creative invitations are not only fun to make but they are great fun to receive. They tell the guest that this party has been well thought out and is going to be a lot of fun and naturally they will really want to attend. You can really set the mood for your party from the minute the invitations go out by keeping your invitations in theme. If time is short you can always buy a pad of invitations from the news agency and just fill in the blanks, but if you do have the time and the inclination, it's no where near as much fun as making them yourself and it's a great way to get the kids involved. Even if you think your party has no theme and you have nothing to work with for creative invitations, nothing could be more wrong. Think of the word 'party' as the theme. What does party say to you? Balloons are a great way to say party. Why not roll up your invitations and put them inside a balloon? Blow the balloon up and tie with coloured ribbon and write 'Pop Me' in big letters with a marker pen on the balloon. Don't forget to include RSVP instructions. I have found that often, when inviting children from families you don't know, the parents sometimes 'forget' to RSVP. It is very frustrating when this happens. I have sometimes written a friendly reminder for my child to give to the 'unknown guest' at school. Or if you have their numbers, just give them a call. Send invitations out 3 weeks before the party to give everyone the chance to put the party into today's busy calendars, and if you are ordering professional invitations you'll need to place your order at least 6 weeks in advance.
