Victorian Tea Party Ideas For Good Old-Fashioned Girl Fun
By Dee Schrock
Young girls love this party theme. It can be used as a theme for a birthday party or simply because it seems like a fun time to have a party for young girls. Parents are happy to dress up their children in long skirts or dresses; dress up is fun for everyone.
One of the activities that is fun to do and seems to go over well with girls is for each girl to make an old fashioned tea hat to wear with their outfit. Old fashioned straw hats typically used to hang on walls for decoration can be purchased at craft stores for very low prices and they fit reasonably well on small heads.
When buying these hats, don't forget to include artificial flowers, ribbon and lace. They need a bit of supervision with a glue gun, but the results can be surprising. Have a hat on hand that you have already made so that the kids have something to use as a model. Beforehand, divide the flowers, ribbon and lace into baggies so everyone has the materials. Try to divide everything so they can choose their own color scheme. The time required for kids to make this craft is approximately an hour.
Tiny sandwiches and tea served in china dishes adds to the grown up idea of a tea party. Games played are anything old fashioned in the form of board games and croquet. Don't forget to take pictures for the memories. This kind of party can also be turned into a picnic in the park for the afternoon.

As a parent it might be helpful if you stand beside the table and gently offer guidance as you go. You could even start your party by giving all your guests a short lesson in this party etiquette

When planning a party naturally one of the most important factors is who to invite and the guest list comes in at Tips 4 and 5 in my overall list of party tips. For younger children (say between 3 and 10 years) a good rule of thumb is to invite as many children as the age of your child plus 1. So, 6 year old child means 7 guests.
