Go Green With A Shrek Party
By Gail Leino
Your child's party is sure to be a success with just a little planning and some creative thinking, and a Shrek Party is a very popular choice among children everywhere. Invitations are the beginning for all children's parties and Shrek is no exception. You can purchase standard or premade invitations. The standard card stock may be embellished using your home computer and printer. Be certain to get creative by saying something like:You are invited to the wedding of Shrek and Princess Fiona, and be ready to party with _(birthday boy or girl's name)_ Who is celebrating his birthday with them!!
Include the date, time, any special instructions, exact pick up and drop off instructions and times, and a map to help locate the party location to prevent anyone from getting lost. These may be taken to school to be dropped off, mailed, or hand delivered. Consider following up with email reminders a couple of days before the party.
For a fun, Home-made invitation, create a wedding invitation for Princess Fiona and Shrek, with the invitation inside to say:
"Come to the wedding and celebrate the birthday of (child’s name) at the same time!"
A party pack makes life SO much easier!
Decorate your tables with green plastic tablecloths. Include Shrek tableware, napkins, and other Shrek-designed items to put on the table. Sticks, bugs (preferably plastic), and a very large Donkey as a centerpiece will help bring the Shrek theme to life for your guests!
• Purchase different Shrek paraphernalia, such as Shrek ears and teeth, shirts, hats, posters, and even video clips, and have them creatively displayed around the room. Using dry ice, roll the "smoke" from behind a life-sized Shrek cutout or doll, if possible.
Have the kids cut out their own Gingerbread Men, or even create their own Gingerbread Man cookies!
Take the kids for a donkey ride - Shrek’s best friend! Give each child a Shrek hat so they can pretend to be Shrek, and then either rent a donkey for the afternoon, or take them to a donkey farm for a little fun (make sure you have their parents’ permission). Gingerbread Man cookies! Have the kids decorate them as they cool, and then enjoy!
Why not use these Shrek Iron on T-Shirt Transfers and make a T-shirt for every guest.
