Spongebob Squarepants Party Menu Fun
By Gail Leino
Spongebob Squarepants deserves a great party menu for a great cartoon character. The kids will eat just about anything sweet and love lots of junk food, but you can modify these foods to make them healthier and more of a culinary challenge so you can stretch your skills. Think tropical when you think spongebob for the next kid's party.
Pineapple should definitely be included in this menu since spongebob does indeed live in a pineapple under the sea. For a very simple dish open up a can of pineapple chunks and put in a bowl. For something more involved you can mix up a pineapple casserole with marshmallows and apple chunks, plus special seasonings. The kids may also be coaxed into trying a Hawaiian pizza at this spongebob party. You can have a little fun with it by creating a smiley face with your pineapple chunks and ham pieces. Pineapple punch can be your drink for the adults and the kids both will love the sweet treat. Dessert after all these sweet meats at the spongebob party can be Macadamia Nut cookies since they are a tropical nut from a tropical place.
Make up as much or as little pizza dough as you need for your Hawaiian pizzas. A small party of four or five people can usually polish off one pizza pie amongst themselves, so if you have more people coming make more pizza. Use canned pizza sauce, but add some pepperoni chunks for a spicier, meatier flavor. Use a mozzarella and provolone cheese mix if you can for a stronger cheese flavor. Both of these tips will help counteract the sweetness of the pineapple for a nice balanced flavor. Finally top with crushed or chunked pineapple and pieces of ham. You can also add some almond slivers for an interesting nutty flavor and shake a small amount of nutmeg on top before popping into the oven. Cook pizza at 350 degrees for about 10 to 20 minutes.
If the kids don’t like these pineapple menu ideas for their sponge bob party you can always keep some chicken fingers and French fries as back up in the freezer.
