Winnie the Pooh Party Theme
By Gail Leino
When it comes to choosing a party theme for a children’s party, Winnie the Pooh always stands out as a favorite. For several decades, the golden bear holding the pot of honey as he bounds along his way has been a favorite of children and their parents as well. Instead of the traditional teddy bear, most newborns have Winnie the Pooh as one of their first stuffed animals.
Unlike some of the other themes, Winnie the Pooh characters can go together or stand alone – at least Pooh and Tigger do. Party supplies are available with Pooh or Tigger alone or with the rest of the characters like Eyore, Rabbit, Roo, Owl, and Christopher Robin. Grandparents even remember having the theme for parties for their own children, and now their grandchildren are still enjoying it.
For small children who may become bored easily, consider adding a movie to the party as a reward for good behavior. It gives them something as an incentive, and if you choose the latest movie, many of them will see something they have not yet seen. In party stores, you will find small replicas of the Winnie the Pooh characters, which you can use as a party favor for the children to take home. Sometimes even the department stores have very small stuffed animals that usually run under a dollar each, but if your party is for children under the age of three, be sure to check for small parts or look for the age recommendations of the manufacturer.
Your child will love having a Winnie the Pooh cake, but if you’re not into cake decorating, be sure to order it from the bakery at least forty-eight hours in advance of the time you want to pick it up. Some bakeries only require twenty-four, but unless you know that for certain, plan on forty-eight so that you are not disappointed. Make your child’s party special, and let Winnie the Pooh join in making him happy.
